Secondary School Boys’ PE

The sun is shining at the end of a cold term, where we’ve seen our boys participate in many different competitions and excursions. The term started with secondary camp, which gave the boys a chance to excel and try challenging themselves whether it be the high ropes course, abseiling down a rock face or leading a group of peers in initiative games.

Once back at school there was no time to waste as the inter school chess tournaments started. The secondary team travelled to Suzanne Cory College and represented our school with great success. Nihal left the tournament with a medal and third place, as boys Hasanayn and Johar left the tournament with distinction certificates.

Our boys also had the inter school basketball tournament this term which saw our Years 9 & 10 boys courageously defeated against a tough opposition. Looking ahead, our Years 7 & 8 boys will be representing Sirius College on Monday 17th December at Coburg Basketball stadium.

The Years 9 & 10 boys had a ball at the Flip Out centre in Derrimut which was part of their PE lessons this term.

As part of the outdoor education program our boys have started cooking on a trangia and making simple meals during sports classes. The boys are learning about the essential equipment needed for camping, including how to set up tents. The boys are becoming more confident and learning new skills.
